The problem

Franchise retail comes with a catch: the point of sale is mandated. You can't replace it, and it wasn't built for the store you actually run. No modern CRM, no loyalty worth the name, a register experience the staff tolerates rather than likes — and no way out, because the POS is part of the franchise agreement.

The owner of a Plato's Closet asked us the question we love best: "can you build around it?"

What we built

Plato's Wallet is a register and CRM layered on top of the existing POS instead of replacing it. The mandated system keeps doing what the franchise requires; the Wallet handles what it can't — card processing with no separate terminal, customer profiles and visit history, texting and email that bring shoppers back, and a store dashboard the owner reads every day.

The franchise rules stay intact. The store gets modern software anyway. That layering trick is the product.

The stack it replaced

Before the Wallet, running this one store meant renting a different tool for every job. Now it means one login:

Separate card terminal & processorPayments, inside the register
Customer texting serviceTexts built in — receipts & comeback offers
Email marketing platformEmail, built in
Employee scheduling appShiftHQ, wired into the same stack
Customer data locked in the POSA CRM the store actually owns
We didn't replace the POS. We made it irrelevant to everything except the receipt.

Where it stands

Plato's Wallet is live on the counter of a real Plato's Closet today, ringing up real customers. Because it's built as a layer, the same approach white-labels to other owners — and to other franchises with the same locked-POS problem.
